Pasta Making Party

In this hands-on class we will demonstrate the incredible new doors of flavor, texture, health, and possibilities that fresh flour pasta can open.

You will get to mill your own fresh flour and make pasta and a sauce to enjoy at the end of the class with a paired beverage and bread. You will also take home 2-3 pounds of “leftover” fresh pasta to enjoy with your family and friends.

In Three Hours We Will:

  • Learn about Ground Up’s journey in sourcing Northeast grown grains.
  • Get to know the often overlooked sides of grains, how they are packed with important nutrients that can contribute to our health, and how sustainable grain farming contributes to the health of our environment.
  • Experience a Pasta Flight - eat a selection of different single grain pastas and discuss preferences in texture, flavor, and color for each type.
  • Tour Ground Up’s Flour Mill and get a hands-on demonstration of stone-milling flour.
  • Create a flour blend to make your own signature pasta.
  • Make fresh pasta from your signature blend with our bronze pasta extruder.
  • Enjoy our home-made pasta dinner together with bread and a paired beverage.
  • Take home 2 pounds of your pasta to share another meal with family and friends.

Pasta & Play

In our 20 person classes you'll work together with others in a fun, hands-on environment. You will not only get to make, eat and take home pasta but you will get to learn about locally grown grains, mill the flour and develop your own blend for making pasta.

The workspace is newly built in a renovated 1800’s mill building in Holyoke powered by renewable hydropower from the city. The Flour Mill and Test Kitchen are adjacent to each other and we will be working in both spaces throughout the class.

What to Expect

You will work with others in smaller groups, sharing workstations and equipment to make your pasta and sauce. Classes are 3 hours and include a simple pasta meal with fresh bread and wine, beer, or other beverage pairing. Everyone will bring home 2-3 pounds of fresh pasta.

You will be standing, cooking and working for most of the class with accommodations made for those requesting them. Please wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and have long hair tied back.
